AlpacaFest is the region’s major annual show.  It’s currently held at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre which provides a great space for pens, show rings, trade stands and fleece showing and judging.

The show features both animal and fleece classes - and has become one of the largest alpaca-only shows in Australia.

AlpacaFest features the “best-of-colour” classes with “Premier” alpacas being awarded $100 cash prizes  - for both Huacaya and Suri.

Fleece is a particularly important part of AlpacaFest and fleece class entries have grown to among the largest fleece competition in Australia.  2010 will seek to provide truly national fleece show - the Alpacas Coast to Coast International Premier Fleece show.  “Premier” fleeces will win ½ page advertisement, valued at $280, in one of the subsequent issues of this publication.
